The purpose of this role is to provide engineering services to Production Support, Quality Department and others as required.

Key activities include:

- Promote, and lead by example the compliance of HSE, Quality and Engineering practices in accordance with company policy and procedures for all operational activities;
- Conduct of technical problem solving to a high standard;
- Preparation of technical reports to a high standard;
- Provide engineering support to internal and external customers, as directed by the Engineering Manager (EM);
- Provide assistance with the preparation of drawings, manuals and tender documents;
- On a day-to-day basis, in association with Project Management staff, assist in the administration of specific projects with regards to commercial, design, quality and delivery requirement;
- In association with Project Management staff, maintain close/frequent contact with Customers involved in these projects to ensure full and efficient communications on all relevant matters;
- Monitor the quality of relevant Faiveley Transport products and services and report any problems to the EM and QA representative for corrective action;
- Attend professional training courses from time-to-time as directed by the EM; and
- Any other duties directed by your manager.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

- Excellent problem-solving skills;
- Excellent computer skills including information retrieval, analysis and compilation of data;
- Demonstrated initiative and sound organisational and time management skills, and the ability to identify improvements, determine priorities, multi-task and effectively meet deadlines;
- The ability to successfully liaise with Faiveley customers and their representatives with regard to technical issues and participate in customer design reviews;
- Effective developed oral, written communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated success at building and maintaining effective relationships with key people and team members;
- Skilled in computer software packages, including CAD, Microsoft Word and Excel;
- Previous engineering experience in rail industry is required. Experience in braking, door or coupling systems on rollingstock will be very desirable;
- Degree qualified Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering - recognised by Engineers Australia;
- Knowledge of core rail technologies and disciplines (desirable); and
- Experience with CAD.
