Grounds Maintenance Officer

**About the Camp**

The YMCA Lady Northcote is a Recreation Camp located in Rowsley, just outside of Bacchus Marsh, 67 km west of Melbourne. The surrounding environment is rural. Lady Northcote accommodates a range of groups from 10 up to 250 people and operates all year. The Camp is owned by the State Government of Victoria and managed by YMCA Victoria, under a 21 year lease that concludes in the year 2041. The camp’s outdoor program takes place on the camp site, and the surrounding Brisbane Ranges using a variety of outdoor and adventure based activities.

**About the Role**

As Maintenance Grounds Officer, you will working with the maintenance team to ensure that the campgrounds and its state-of-the-art facilities are clean, maintained and presentable. You will be responsible for:

- Maintenance of Facilities including both Buildings and Grounds to ensure that they are safe and well maintained for user groups
- Developing, designing and building new garden areas in conjunction with the management team within budgetary constraints, in line with the Environmental Management Plan
- Assist in the development of vegetable/edible gardens areas ensuring campers of all abilities have easy access
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety, and for the health and safety of others Maintain accurate records for the food safety plan
- Co-operate with the YMCA with respect to legislative occupational health and safety requirements and the ‘YMCA General Health and Safety Guidelines’.
- Administration Immediately respond to customer’s needs and concerns to ensure quality of service meets agreed standards Ensure performance standards during shift

This is a casual role with an hourly rate of $32.23 + Super.

**About You**

You are a handy person with knowledge and/or experience in gardening principles and maintenance. You possess attention to detail and pride in your work. You are an excellent problem solver with effective time management skills, allowing you to multitask and prioritise work where required. You are a strong communicator, with proven experience in supervising a small team, and can demonstrate the core values of the Y, day-to-day.
