We are currently working with a State Government department. They are looking to recruit an AO6 Category Specialist on a 2 month contract with very likely extension.

About the role:
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Category Specialist with a proven track record in sourcing and contract management within Queensland Government, preferably in the motor vehicle or fleet leasing industry. As a Category Specialist, you will be responsible for managing complex Standing Offer Arrangements (SOA's) and driving efficient procurement outcomes for the organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the success of the department.

Responsibilities will include:

- Manage risk and procurement outcomes for the department, ensuring compliance with Queensland Government Procurement Frameworks, processes, Policy, and Legislation.
- Undertake procurement activities as directed, including the review of requirements, development of procurement plans and strategies, and supplier selection.
- Perform and ensure appropriate category management and reporting is delivered, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Conduct thorough research and market analysis to inform procurement decisions and contribute to the development of whole-of-government fleet supply arrangements and agency purchases.
- Maintain effective communication and relationships with internal and external suppliers and clients, acting as a key point of contact for all category-related matters.
- Develop and maintain a strong network within the motor vehicle and supplementary industry sectors.
- Obtain and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the risk profile of the department’s fleet, actively identifying areas for improvement and mitigation strategies.
- Actively contribute to the development of functional procedures, promoting consistency and best practices within Procurement and Contract Management.

About you:

- Although not mandatory, Level 3 (Advanced) Diploma of Procurement and Contracting: medium to high value/medium risk procurements or higher is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience and good working knowledge of Queensland Government Procurement Frameworks, processes, Policy and Legislation, essential.
