We are seeking a Privacy Advisor to provide high-level advice, support, guidance on interpretation, and training to raise awareness and ensure Ambulance Victoria is compliant with privacy legislation. This is a newly created part time, 2 days per week position based in Doncaster, Blackburn or Ballarat offices.
About the role
Reporting to the General Counsel, the responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- provide advice and guidance to advance privacy awareness and ensure adherence to legislative obligations using a range of strategies, policies, frameworks and tools;
- conduct privacy impact assessments and privacy threshold risk assessments;
- prepare a range of concise high-level reports and correspondence for the General Counsel, Executive, and Board regarding privacy compliance, complaints, breaches, and training matters;
- review and refine policies and information handling practices to ensure strong governance, privacy compliance and the reflection of guidance of Health Complaints Commissioner and Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner; and
- monitor, respond and provide guidance, information and training to staff about the interpretation of privacy principles and other relevant legislative frameworks.
About you
- a tertiary qualification with proven subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and relevant experience (preferably in a legal related field);
- demonstrated working knowledge of privacy legislation and practice in Australia, preferably Victoria;
- proven experience in privacy impact assessments, breaches of privacy, and case management experience for privacy breaches;
- exceptional communication skills, including the ability to draft formal documents and reports, provide authoritative advice, and effectively communicate complex information in a clear, succinct manner to internal and external stakeholders;
- proven ability to work autonomously, cooperatively in a team environment and to foster a culture of focused customer service and continuous improvement; and
- a legal background is highly advantageous.

The AV grade salary range for AV-4 positions is $95,695 - $119,761 (pro-rata) plus 10.5% superannuation. Salary on commencement is offered at the base of the AV grade.
