**Technical Assessor** required for 12 month (x possible further 12 months) contract for a Qld Government Authority responsible for disaster recovery and resilience policy.

Working in an experienced, established and skilled Operations team, the Technical Assessor will be responsible for providing specialist technical expertise and knowledge to assist with complex analysis, mainly related to disaster and resilience funding arrangements in line with State and Commonwealth requirements. The position will work flexibly to support divisional requirements and proactively contribute to ongoing business improvement.

Responsibilities will include:

- Contribute to the development / delivery of best practice funding management, to meet program control measures, stakeholder needs & the Authority's requirements
- Provision of technical and policy advice to internal and external stakeholders
- Continuous improvement, utilising best practice business processes and tools
- Provide issues identification, solutions and management strategies to mitigate technical and delivery risk
- Perform complex in-house and infield assessments, providing technical advice (where required) to build external stakeholder capability and to ensure effective delivery of specified programs of work
- Review applicant benchmarks and contingencies on an ‘as-required’ basis
- Conduct training, presentations & act on behalf of the team / Authority
- Undertake related projects and other duties as required in line with complexity of work

To be considered, applicants must have
**demonstrated experience** in the following:

- Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering, quantity surveying or other relevant discipline/s (preferably a degree with Honours)
- Professional level of expertise in infrastructure assessments(s) (water, bridges, local and state highway roads, etc.)
- Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders (stakeholder management in indigenous communities highly sought after)
- Experience relating to project and or program management for civil infrastructure projects
- Knowledge in contract management and/or contract administration for infrastructure projects
- Experience of cost interpretation within a civil project environment
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and commitment to continuous improvement aligned to the operational needs of the team
- Excellent oral/written communication skills including report writing and delivering presentations

Highly desired but not essential:

- Prior experience of NDRRA, DRFA or any other government-funded programs would be highly regarded
- RPEQ registered
