Port Adelaide, Australia Little Petal CC Full time

**We're Hiring: 2 Family Engagement and Support Educators (Casual Positions)**
Location: Adelaide, South Australia
**Up to 25 hours per week** | **Immediate Start** | **Miscellaneous Award Level 4**

At Little Petal, we do things differently. We deliver in-home, family-centred support for some of the most vulnerable individuals and families in our community. Our practice is trauma-informed, strength-based, client-led, and culturally responsive because we believe every person deserves access to high-quality, tailored support that meets them where they are.

This role forms part of our Family Engagement and Support Educator (FESE) Program, which delivers a layered intensity of supports to best cater to the holistic needs of individuals and families. The FESE Program sits within a broader service model that includes child and family capacity-building programs and Children’s Contact Support Services, all designed to strengthen family functioning and promote safety, development, and wellbeing.

We are currently seeking two people to become our next Family Engagement and Support Educators (FESE) to join our passionate, multidisciplinary team on a casual basis.

**About the Role**
This is not an easy job, and we won’t pretend otherwise. This work demands stamina, grit, and a genuine commitment to showing up, consistently, for the people you support. But if you’re looking for meaningful work that changes lives, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

You’ll support individuals and families in their homes and communities to strengthen relationships, build capacity, and create safer, more consistent environments that promote wellbeing and positive development.

You must be available to work your allocated hours consistently each week (up to 25 hours), with flexibility across mornings, afternoons, and occasional weekends.

**What We’re Looking For**
We want to hear from people who:

- Are reliable, compassionate, and grounded in professional integrity
- Have experience working with families facing complex challenges
- Operate from a trauma-informed, disability informed, strength-based, and client-led approach
- Understand and respect the importance of cultural safety and inclusivity
- Thrive in dynamic environments and are willing to adapt and problem-solve on the go
- Are committed to making real, lasting change in the lives of others

**Main Responsibilities**
- **Maintaining a Child Safe Environment**: Ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of children engaged with Little Petal are always protected.
- **Duty of Care**: Fulfill duty of care obligations under national law by protecting children and vulnerable adults from any reasonable and foreseeable risk of injury or harm.
- **Mandatory Reporting**: Report any suspected child harm, abuse, neglect, or risk of such occurrences promptly and in accordance with guidelines.
- **Supporting Daily Routines**:Supervise and support the daily routines of children under the care of Little Petal within the family home.
- **Supervision Outside the Home**: Safely supervise children in outdoor and extracurricular settings, such as parks or organised activities.
- **Transportation**: Safely transport children under Little Petal’s care to and from school, childcare, kindergarten, appointments, or extracurricular activities in a reliable, registered, and insured vehicle.
- **Developmental Activities**: Plan and promote age-appropriate activities tailored to children’s interests, developmental abilities, and personalities to support their social, physical, and emotional needs.
- **Educational Support**: Assist children with homework and school-related activities to improve their educational outcomes.
- **Record Keeping**: Complete administrative tasks in a timely manner, including case noting and reporting as required.
- **Professional Conduct**: Always maintain a professional attitude and uphold Little Petal’s Code of Conduct, policies, and procedures.
- **Respectful Communication**: Communicate respectfully and professionally with primary carers, including when addressing challenges or providing feedback.
- **Goal Setting with Families**: Work collaboratively with primary carers to help children progress toward educational and behavioural goals.
- **Behaviour Management Role Modelling**: Demonstrate appropriate ways to manage children’s behaviours while meeting their physical, developmental, and emotional needs.
- **Attachment Support**: Support primary carers in developing secure attachments with their children.
- **Nutritional Guidance**: Prepare and encourage children to try nutritional meals that adhere to dietary requirements, including allergies.
- **Child Ratios**: Care for no more than seven children at any one time, with no more than four being of preschool age or younger.
- **First Aid Administration**: Administer first aid when required and report incidents to both management and the family on the day of occurrence.
- **Health, Safety & Injury Management*
