**Position Description - Infrastructure Asset Planner**

**Purpose**
The Infrastructure Asset Planner supports the effective planning and management of the City
of Marion’s civil infrastructure assets. This role assists in asset data collection, analysis, and
reporting to ensure infrastructure networks meet the required service levels of quality,
function, capacity, and resilience. Working closely with the Coordinator Infrastructure
Planning, the role contributes to asset condition assessments, predictive modelling, and
capital works planning to support evidence-based decision-making.
This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate asset information, assisting with the
development and review of Asset Management Plans, and supporting financial and risk-based
planning. Through collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders, the
Infrastructure Asset Planner helps ensure sustainable and well-maintained infrastructure that
aligns with the City of Marion’s vision for a liveable, sustainable community.
**Key Deliverables**
The Infrastructure Asset Planner is responsible for:
- Assisting in capital works planning for civil infrastructure assets.
- Develop maps on the organisational Geographic Information System for forward
capital works programs and asset networks to provide works optimisation and
decision making.
- Support the development and reviewing Asset Management Plans and Business
Process Manuals.
- Assist in condition audits and defect inspection programs to assess infrastructure
performance and support the development of 4 year works programs.
- Support in the development predictive models to guide asset renewal planning and
investment.
- Providing advice on civil engineering and asset management to support decision
- making.

- Reviewing and reporting on future capital works projects to align with long-term
infrastructure needs.
- Support in developing cost estimates, financial forecasts, and budget allocations for
infrastructure projects to support long-term financial sustainability.
- Assisting on the actions outlined in the Asset Management Road Map and
Improvement Plan for civil infrastructure assets.
- Performing other duties as required to support the organisation’s strategic objectives.

Essential criteria
- Proven experience in infrastructure planning and asset management,
- Proficient knowledge and skills in Geographic Information Systems.
