**Coding Auditor and Educator** **North Shore Network of hospitals has availability to join a newly restructured Medical Records Department** **_ This position will work across North Shore, Castlecrag and Hunter’s Hill Private Hospital. _** As a Coding Auditor and Educator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the clinical coding team, ensuring accurate and timely completion of clinical coding and related activities. This will be provided through effective leadership and mentoring across a complex case load within our large tertiary hospital. This is a key leadership opportunity where you will positively influence and encourage your team You will be supported by, and report to the Health Information Manager. **Position Summary**: - To provide accurate and timely abstracting and disease procedure coding for each patient discharged by the Hospital following the relevant Australian Coding Standards and relevant State Coding Advice. - Ensure data is collected, collated and managed in line with Hospital and relevant legislative requirements. - To participate in quality activities, including internal and external clinical coding audits. - To manage, educate, and audit Trainee, Qualified, and Senior Clinical Coders. **Your Skills and Experience** **Essential** **Qualifications** - Completion of Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA) Clinical Coding Course, Associate Diploma or Bachelor of Applied Science, Medical Record Administration or Health Information Management; or similar relevant tertiary qualification. **Other** - Eligible for membership with the HIMAA. - Demonstrated current high level experience in Clinical Coding including a minimum of 3 years fulltime equivalent hours (FTE) coding experience (post training) coding a similar casemix to that of the recruiting facility. - Demonstrated ability to code autonomously and competently across a full range of clinical specialties. - Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and evaluate Trainee and Clinical Coder education and traineeship programs - Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and evaluate audit plans. - Previous experience mentoring Trainee Clinical Coders and experienced Clinical Coders. - Extensive understanding of the relationship between clinical coding, Casemix, DRG classifications systems and funding models. - Demonstrated interest in clinical coding, highly developed ability to self-manage and a positive "can-do" attitude. - Excellent time management and organisational skills. - High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. - Ability to work effectively within a team environment and independently as required. - Commitment to professional development through quality activities, constructive feedback and mentoring. - Sound computer literacy and skills within the Microsoft Office Suite. **Desirable** - Experience with patient administration software relevant to hospital (e.g. Meditech). - Completion of La Trobe University Clinical Coding Auditing course. - Recognised training qualifications. - Previous Private Hospital experience. - Previous experience with a Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Program. **Remuneration**: Salary commensurate with experience. **The Hospital's** **North Shore Private Hospital** is a 312-bed acute surgical and obstetric facility which performs most surgical specialties including cardiothoracic, neurosurgery, orthopaedics, advanced general and colorectal, urology, spinal surgery, paediatrics and Robotic Surgery.
