**Job Description**:
Reporting directly to the People State Lead, no day will be the same and you’ll never be bored.

The People Advisor role is the first point of contact and manage the resolution of HR inquiries and issues within the respective regional workforce and supporting the Regional People Business Partner team. The role involves supporting people leaders on all aspects of the employment life cycle.

The People Advisor role will be responsible for providing generalist advice on industrial instruments and remuneration, assisting Leaders with managing ill and injured employees, performance processes and investigations.

The role’s primary client group will be shift supervisors and shift managers and the role will provide People advisory support within the respective region and on an as needs basis across a broader client group. A significant aspect of the role (while not the sole focus) is supporting management with workplace relations.

As a People Advisor, you will be results orientated, prepared to challenge conventional thinking, and lead by example. Your passion, attention to detail, and strong communication, solid operational HR knowledge and interpersonal skills, will stand you in high regard.

**Primary Duties & Responsibilities**
- Coach and support leaders on people issues and processes, such as general HR policy/legislation and payroll enquiries, Performance Management, compensation/remuneration, and terminations, including redundancies.
- Assist with managing grievances and manage/conduct procedurally fair, factual workplace investigations and work with leaders to develop corrective actions where appropriate.
- Support the Regional People team in the provision of People services and initiatives.
- Assist in the implementation of key People organisational initiatives and projects and processes including annual performance reviews.
- Provide administrative support as required.
- Support the Regional People Team and people managers in maintaining accurate people related data in secure and company approved systems
- Provide advice and interpretation of legislation, common law employment contracts and industrial instruments to leadership, employees and payroll as required.
- Analyse data and metrics to provide leaders with insight into key data points to support people decisions and strategic objectives.
- Partner with the injury management team and BU leaders in the management of Workcover claims and personal injury or illness, assessing employee return to work capacity and advising any reasonable adjustments to aid return to work.
- Manage specific projects as determined in the People planning process and participate in functional and cross-functional initiatives
- Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
- Identify opportunities where the People function can add value to the business and identify opportunities to streamline and simplify people processes.
- Communicate and educate leaders and staff on Company programs, initiatives and policies as required.

**To succeed in this role you must have and be able to**:

- 2 years minimum experience as an HR team member, ideally in a generalist capacity in an industrial/unionised environment.
- Adopt a safety first mindset to all aspects of performance, leadership and decision making.
- Experience in transport, warehousing and distribution or related industries - ideal but not essential.
- Ensure all employees are appropriately skilled, trained and competent. This includes appropriate time frames for refresher training / validation.
- Base level knowledge of relevant state and federal legislation relevant to business operations.
