**About Us**

The West Coast Wilderness Railway (WCWR) is based on the West Coast of Tasmania with offices and workshop in Queenstown. WCWR operates heritage tourist trains, complemented by retail and food and beverage operations.

**The Role**:
The rail maintenance workshop carries out maintenance activities that include inspection, repair, refurbishment and overhaul of the WCWR rolling stock fleet to ensure availability and reliability of WCWR train services.

The workshop maintainer is a hands-on role carrying out maintenance and inspections of WCWR’s fleet of carriages, wagons, locomotives, on-track vehicles and plant as directed.

**Key Responsibilities include**:
Carrying out rolling stock and plant preventive maintenance tasks, inspections and repairs
- Machining and fabricating components
- Diagnosing faults
- Contributing to maintenance of asset records
- Contributing to workshop safety and housekeeping
- Working as part of a team or alone

**About you**:

- A qualified and competent fitter and machinist or diesel fitter with welding and fabricating experience
- Able to use a range of manually operated workshop machinery and equipment to manufacture components to required tolerances
- Able to interpret engineering drawings
- Able to diagnose faults and help develop solutions
- Work safely
- Medically fit for the task (pass category 2 rail medical)
- Able to meet the requirements of the zero drug and alcohol policy (random and as part of medical)

**Qualificatons**:

- Trade certificate in fitting and machining, diesel fitting or similar
- Class C driver’s licence

Desirable:

- Experience in rolling stock maintenance
- Experience in welding and fabrication
- Experience in steam equipment maintenance
- High risk work licences in forklift, dogging, confined spaces, working at heights, standard boiler
