Assistant Buyer for Travel

**Position Summary**:
Assists the Buyer in vendor negotiations, daily management of the department and communicates with key stakeholders, such as Home Office, Warehouses, Global Buying Offices, Depot, Suppliers and members.

**Job Duties/Essential Functions**
- Calculating services sales projections and regional distribution based on prior performance of similar services
- Forecasting and tracking debit balances
- Facilitating the smooth flow of services to all warehouses
- Using computer to research Vendor claims
- Attending meetings with Buyers and suppliers
- Assisting in negotiating terms of purchase, delivery, packaging, rebates, and returns for items for both the warehouse and eCommerce
- Making travel services selection recommendations to Buyer
- Overseeing and coordinating activity rebates to members
- Assisting with checking competition across all media, such as newspapers, catalogues and internet to ensure we are offering best value every day
- Shopping the market and performing other research to maintain current knowledge of technology and trends and to identify market direction
- Attending trade shows and/or supplier meetings where necessary and approved by the Buyer
- Assisting in other areas of the department as necessary.

**Required qualifications / industry specific skills**

Education/Training:

- Higher School Certificate or higher
- Certificate III in Travel

Knowledge/Skills:

- Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides)data entry experience
- AS400
- Strong attention to detail
- Approachable with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task, with strong organisation and problem solving skills
- Strong evaluation and analytical skills

**Other Specific requirements**
- Full COVID-19 vaccination or medical contraindications certificate
- Satisfactory criminal record check
- If successful, you will be required to undertake role and department specific training within specified timeframes
