**About the role**
City of Canada Bay council is proud to offer a Cadetship within our Governance Team, in line with the "fresh start for local government apprentices, trainees and cadets" in conjunction with the NSW Government. This cadetship offers a combination of on-the-job work experience whilst you complete your university degree in this field.
You will gain valuable knowledge and hands-on experience in governance, risk management and insurance areas, working closely with our Manager for Governance and Risk while pursuing your degree.

As a Governance Cadet, you will:
- Provide high-quality administration support to the Governance and Risk area of Council including the Governance, Risk Management and Insurance.
- Undertake and/or contribute to organisational and departmental projects
- Conduct research and assist in the preparation of submissions to Statutory Authorities, Government Departments and the like, as required
- Assist the Governance Officer and the Manager Governance and Risk preparing for Council Meetings including assisting with Council agendas and minutes
- Consult and engage with other Sections and Departments as and when required
**About the person**
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Be enrolled in a Graduate Diploma in Local Government and in your final or second-last year of your degree
- Have well-developed skills in research, analysis and preparation of high-quality policies and documents and reports
- Show a willingness to learn and contribute positively to a team environment
- Hold a current Class C NSW Drivers Licence
