Role Overview: As a Support Worker at Genuine Connection Care, you will play a crucial role in assisting individuals with daily living activities, promoting independence, and creating an environment of safety, respect, and dignity. Your role will involve working closely with individuals to understand their unique needs, preferences, and goals, ensuring that they receive the best possible care and support in their homes or community settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personal Care Assistance: Provide support with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting in a dignified and respectful manner.
- Daily Living Support: Assist with meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication management, and other activities of daily living.
- Promote Independence: Encourage and assist clients in developing and maintaining their independence, including mobility support, social participation, and goal-setting.
- Emotional and Social Support: Build genuine, trusting relationships with clients to help combat isolation and encourage social interaction. Provide companionship and emotional support.
- Health and Wellbeing: Monitor clients' health and wellbeing, report any concerns to appropriate healthcare professionals or supervisors, and support the implementation of care plans.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of care provided, including progress notes, daily logs, and incident reports. Ensure confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other team members, healthcare providers, and families to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for each individual.
- Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance skills and ensure adherence to best practice standards in care provision.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a support or care role is an advantage but not required.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships with clients and colleagues.
- A genuine passion for supporting individuals and helping them achieve their personal goals.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of health and safety standards in care environments.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of clients and the service.
- Valid Victoria driver’s license and own vehicle (highly preferred - if applicable for transportation needs).
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- First Aid & CPR certified
- Relevant Qualifications (e.g. Certificate III in Individual Support/IV in Disability Support)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
