The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is looking to recruit a **Cash Manager** to work in our Financial Accounting and Operations team located in our office in Belconnen.

This is an ongoing, permanent position at the APS 5 level. Due to the nature of the work involved with this role this position is full-time. Flexible working arrangements including a hybrid model of working from home and the office applies.

**About the role**

The Cash Manager will support the APS 6 and EL 1 Financial Accountants in delivering high quality financial services and advice in relation to the financial reporting, treasury and assets accounting functions.

As Cash Manager in the Financial Accounting and Operations team your role may involve:

- undertaking the daily process of bank receipts and payments and fortnight pay runs
- undertaking end-of-month journals including appropriations, salary accruals, prepayments, employee leave provisions, etc
- monthly reconciliations as part of month-end processes (including appropriations, banks, prepayments and payroll)
- reporting the ABS’ monthly payment forecast to the Department of Finance
- appropriation drawdowns from and transfers to the Official Public Account via the Central Budget Management System (CBMS)
- monitoring cash requirements for operating and capital
- monthly reports of Section 74 of the PGPA Act receipts to the Department of Finance
- lodging the BAS to the Australian Taxation Office
- maintaining and updating the ABS’ corporate manual for cash and appropriation management
- assisting the APS 6 supervisor and EL 1 Assistant Director with monthly CBMS monthly actuals and annual financial statements preparation including audit workpapers
- assisting the Assets Team and the Account Payable & Account Receivable Team.

**What we are looking for (selection criteria)**

To be suitable you should have most or all of the following skills, qualities and experience:

- Accounting:

- have a good working knowledge (or an ability to quickly acquire) of the Australian Government Financial Framework
- experience in month-end and year-end processes
- a CA/CPA qualification (or studying towards one)
- Technology:

- working knowledge (or an ability to quickly acquire) of Technology One based financial management information system (FMIS) or other FMIS
- experience in the use of the Central Budget Management System (CBMS) or similar
- Personal:

- strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- strong liaison, communication skills (written and verbal) and stakeholder management skills
- ability to manage and achieve quality and timely outputs while working in both a team and autonomously
- ability to manage competing priorities
- understanding of the APS Code of Conduct in relation to working in the APS environment.
