Corrections Victoria's vision is for Safer Prisons, Safer People and Safer Communities. Our mission is to create a safer, smarter corrections system with a skilled and supported workforce, that enables people in our care to make better decisions.
Corrections Victoria operates Victoria's adult prison system, seeking to provide safe and secure containment for people in our care and an environment and programs and services that support rehabilitation. Corrections Victoria runs 10 public prisons, one transition centre, and oversees three privately operated prisons. Corrections Victoria aims to contribute to community safety by providing best practice interventions that aim to reduce the risk of reoffending, including case management informed by sound risk assessment, offence specific and offence related programs, and transition and reintegration supports.
The General Manager of Hopkins Correctional Centre is responsible for the good order and safety of the prison and for creating and sustaining a workforce culture built on solid values, professional excellence, and teamwork.
About the role
Reporting to the Assistant Commissioner, Custodial Operations, the General Manager leads and manages the delivery of all correctional services to achieve the safe custody, welfare, and rehabilitation of prisoners in accordance with the policies and standards set out by the Commissioner, Corrections Victoria in the Commissioners Requirements, Deputy Commissioner Instructions and Service Delivery Outcomes.
**As the General Manager, some of your duties will include**:
- Lead by example and demonstrate in your day-to-day interactions each of the DJCS values and behaviours and be accountable for your actions.
- Develop, implement, and manage all aspects of the strategic and day-to-day operations of a prison, managing the security, safety, rehabilitative and infrastructure requirements, and deliverables of the prison.
- Actively lead and manage the dynamic security foundation principles to promote a safe and secure prison environment by influencing direction on a range of service processes and systems to support the compliance of established standards and mandated requirements.
- Maintain a healthy and safe workplace by acting immediately upon the receipt of any bullying, discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, or inappropriate behaviour complaint, report, or observation.

About you
**To be successful in this role, you will have**:
- Extensive experience managing people, directing, overseeing, and managing daily business activities and developing and implementing effective business strategies and programs.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse the success of whole of prison programs, strategies and initiatives including the ability to critically evaluate security and offender management issues.
- Knowledge of the Corrections Act 1986 and Corrections Regulations 2019.
