**JOB DESCRIPTION | POOL LIFEGUARD**:
The Pool Lifeguard position involves many tasks and responsibilities to minimise risks within the aquatic environment and respond to actual or imminent threats to the safety of individuals within the aquatic facility.

**Award Agreement**: Fitness Award Level 3 - 4
**Reports to**: Facility Manager

**WORK TASKS + RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Tasks include but not limited to:

- Provide exceptional customer service at all times, ensuring clear and friendly communication with the community, staff, and members.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance consistently.
- Patrol assigned pool areas to ensure a safe recreational environment, monitor activities, and direct public usage to ensure safety.
- Implement and comply with all facility safety procedures, training requirements, and document control, including adherence to WHS guidelines.
- Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of the Facilities Emergency Action Plan.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety, and for the health and safety of others.
- Actively supervise pool and aquatic activities in accordance with facility protocol and communicate with all team members.
- Maintain all necessary accreditations and commit to continued professional development.
- Assist the Facility / Day Manager or the daily operations of the Centre, including maintaining the plant room and associated equipment.
- Conduct water treatment tests, maintain water quality in accordance with Health Department Guidelines, and operate pool equipment as per procedures.
- Assist in the set up and pack up lesson equipment neatly in designated teaching areas when required.
- Report on pool incidents and take appropriate, timely action to address and resolve matters.
- Maintain and clean the pools and surrounding areas to established standards.
- Undertake rostered duties as part of the team and have a willingness to educate the public as needed.
- Have a good understanding of supervision strategies, visibility barriers and patrol methods at their facility.
- Upholding the L+R Group key focus areas of: clean, friendly, safe + organised

**NOTE SENIOR LIFEGUARD's Level 4** - Works under limited supervision and guidance and is required to exercise initiative and judgement in the performance of their duties and who is employed to carry out work associated with the centre's operations e.g. early morning opening or low patronage community pool

**ESSENTIAL SKILLS**:

- Good integrity and work ethic
- Strong problem solving skills of complex issues
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to provide good customer service.
- Ability to work under limited supervision and to demonstrate initiative when required.

**INDUSTRY QUALIFICATIONS + CLEARANCES**:

- Pool Lifeguard skill set
- WWCC: Paid for all employees aged 18 years and over

- Employee Handbook - Employment + General Ops
- Operations Manual (per site)

It is essential that all onboarding tasks are fully completed prior to commencing employment.

**IN-HOUSE TRAINING**:

- Employee site induction and training
- Duty Shift (senior lifeguards only)
