**Catering Assistant/Kitchen Hand - Mental Health Unit**

**In 2023, a state-of-the-art public Mental Health Unit featuring 77 (moving to 102) purpose
- built beds was opened**. This facility includes specialised services for adult, older adult, psychiatric intensive care, and a young adult and youth service.
- _Working various shifts starting from_**: Shifts start times 0600, 0630, 1045, 1100, 1230 and 1330.**

**About the Role**

As a member of our **dynamic team within the newly established Mental Health Unit kitchen**, you will **report directly to the Catering Manager**. Your role will involve operating in a fast-paced team-oriented environment within the new Mental Health Unit kitchen.

**Your duties may include, but are not limited to**:

- **Customer service**:

- Being responsive and sensitive to customer information, their needs and wants
- Dishwashing/pot washing
- Undertake cleaning duties throughout the department and at ward level whilst keeping in line with HACCP/Food Safety regulations infection control and hospital standards.
- Assist with general kitchen duties as required
- Setting up, plating, and distributing patient meals and beverages
- Allergy control awareness
- **Chefmax duties - training will be provided.**:

- **Must be able to complete PART training.**

**About You**

To excel in this position, **we seek a proactive and enthusiastic team member** with a **genuine enthusiasm for catering services**. Previous experience in a comparable food service environment, particularly within a clinical setting, will be highly valued.

**Ideally you will also bring**:

- Previous experience in a hospital or hospitality environment.
- Previous customer service experience is essential.
- Previous experience in kitchen hygiene, pot washing, dishwashing, cleaning
- Certificate II or Certificate III in Hospitality (desirable).
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene principles.
- Proven ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required.

**Remuneration**:On offer is a base hourly rate of $27.87 + superannuation, exclusive of penalties or allowances - Please confirm
