About the School
Merrimac State High School is located in the geographical heart of the Gold Coast, close to beaches, public transport and shopping centres. Founded in 1979, Merrimac State High School is a coeducational, public school for students from 12 to 18 years of age. The school has two phases of education; Junior Secondary for students in Years 7-9 and Senior Secondary for Years 10-12. All teaching staff are fully qualified and share in the school's values of respect, responsibility and reliability. Students are also supported by our Guidance Officers, Psychologists, Chaplain, Social Worker and Industry Liaison Officer. Our school motto "Pride in Excellence" emphasises our unwavering pursuit of greatness, which is best achieved when students, parents, teachers and community work together to reach the greatest possible educational outcomes. At Merrimac High we consider our staff, students and community as family.
About the Role
As the Deputy Principal, you will have responsibility for the following:
- Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Deputise for the Principal when required.
- Uphold the deputy principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
- Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.
- Be futures oriented and strategic.
- Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling.
- Manage resources to achieve goals.
