An excellent opportunity to join a well-established Australian owned, global, independent distributor of consumer goods based headquartered in Melbourne's South-eastern suburbs. Our client is on the lookout for an experienced shipping professional to join their friendly, collaborative, high performing team and coordinate the importation of their extensive product range.

This role requires and offers a certain amount of autonomy, leadership, and strategic input, which allows the successful applicant the rare opportunity the make the role their own in many respects.

**Responsibilities will include**:

- Leading the shipping process to ensure on time delivery of all orders and be the functional shipping representation in meetings and projects to drive commercial success and customer excellence.
- Managing a small team of two.
- Leading freight consolidation decisions to ensure best return on shipping costs.
- Checking and approval of barcodes, carton markings, inner + outer quantities from suppliers.
- Tracking ETD and ETA dates with suppliers, continuously updating the shipping schedule.
- Liaising with freight forwarders and customs agents - re delivery dates, documentation, shipping rates, inbound order tracking.
- Placing FOB shipment bookings managing all relevant shipping documentation.

**About you**:

- Minimum 3 years in import focused role within consumer goods sector
