**Full-time, five-year contract**
Christ Church Grammar School, one of Western Australia’s leading independent boys’ schools, is seeking a dynamic leader, exemplary teacher and excellent administrator to lead the Computer Science Department in the Senior School (Years 7 to 12). This position will commence in Term 3, 2025.
The Computer Science Department is committed to pushing boundaries, aligning the needs of the students with leading edge practice to create an unparalleled experience. The department offers a variety of Computer Science related courses from Year 7 through to Year 12. Compulsory courses in Year 7 and 8 introduce boys to the fundamental concepts, whilst electives in Year 9 and 10 allow boys to explore a range of areas, from building their own computers to highly challenging courses in Bioinformatics and Data Science. In Years 11 and 12, boys have the opportunity to study Computer Science as an ATAR course which also supports studies in other areas such as Science, Engineering, Mathematics and Business.
At the heart of this role is the understanding that the needs and aspirations of boys and parents are critical to our leadership and management function and that our primary focus is the creation of a fulfilling learning and teaching environment for boys and staff.
This Head of Department position will have responsibility for curriculum leadership and management of Computer Science in Years 7 to 12. The Head of Computer Science currently leads a team of three experienced specialist teachers.
It is anticipated that the successful applicant will be an astute manager of people, able to draw the best out of colleagues. They will be prepared to embrace new technologies and develop new curriculum resources along with having advanced programming skills in at least one language and be familiar with Python.
All staff are expected to be enthusiastic professionals and to be in sympathy with the ethos of an Anglican boys’ school and contribute to the co-curricular program in a way that balances the needs of the School and the teacher’s talents and interests. Similarly, staff are expected to be fully supportive of their pastoral responsibilities in a School that highly values the care of the individual within a House system.
