**About the role**

We are looking to expand our casual pool of staff that support clients in our Transition High Needs Care service and ARYA Crisis Accommodation Service.

The Transition High Needs Care model has been created to support the most complex young people in Out of Home Care. This means the young person will be living in a house we run and provided with wrap around 24/7 care 1:1 or 1:2 support with Youth Residential Support Workers doing 8-to-10-hour shifts.

At Risk Youth Accommodation (ARYA) is a service in Belmont that provides overnight crisis accommodation for young people aged 14 - 17 years old who are at risk of homelessness. The purpose of the service is to provide a safe environment for the young person when their placement has broken down or are in transitional care.

We are looking for staff to support young people who have experienced significant trauma and who may display behaviours of concern including aggression, self-harm, drug and alcohol use and absconding.

The purpose of the Youth Residential Support Worker role is to provide a safe and caring environment, assist the young person to de-escalate and regulate their emotions when required, help to develop independent living skills and help the young person re-engage in education and their community.

**You must be able to work across all of the following locations**:
NOR - Landsdale & Bennett Springs

SOR - Canningvale & Belmont

A combination of sleepover, afternoon, day and weekend shifts will be available and you must be able to work a minimum of 3 shifts /or 30 hours per week.

**Responsibilities**:

- Promote and assist young people to achieve goals identified in Individual Case Plans
- Assist young people to develop independence and build community networks
- Support the young person’s interests
- Establish a rapport and collaborate effectively with young people to achieve positive outcomes
- Manage behavioural escalations and assist the young person to co-regulate emotionally
- Domestic duties and supporting the young person to learn how to look after themselves eg cooking, housework, laundry
- Communicate with the care team and report incidents promptly and accurately
- Medication administration (when required)
- Maintenance of progress notes and record keeping

**Skills & Experience**
- Certificate in Youth Work, Mental Health, or relevant qualification (or willing to work towards qualifications)
- Experience working with young people who have experienced significant trauma and neglect, including the management of behaviours of concern
- Ability to demonstrate highly effective interpersonal skills with young people and stakeholders
- Demonstrate confidentiality and have strong understanding of professional boundaries
- Experience working with young people from indigenous or other cultural backgrounds (advantageous)
- A current First Aid Certificate (must have prior to commencing employment)
- A current unrestricted Drivers Licence
- **Desirable: Experience with behavioural management approaches including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), positive behaviour support, trauma and attachment, Sanctuary or CARE residential models **(we have inhouse training we will put you through)
