DVA administers the Defence Home Ownership Assistance Scheme (DHOAS) and the Defence Home Owner Scheme (DHOS) on behalf of the Department of Defence and the DVA scheme Defence Service Home Loans (DSHL).

DHOAS is available to serving and recently ex-serving Australian Defence Force Members. Eligible applicants receive a monthly subsidy on a specified portion of their mortgage. DVA’s role involves taking ADF member enquiries, determining eligibility and entitlements, processing subsidy certificates and payments, and monitoring member’s ongoing entitlement.

All the APS 3 positions are integral to the Operations team, enabling the delivery of high quality customer service and product to our Defence Community.

**Duties**
- Handle and respond to telephone and written queries, including interpreting process and translate the meaning to client within Key Performance Indicator (KPI) timeframes;
- Calculate subsidy entitlement accurately for payments to clients;
- Process notifications of Change of Circumstances to ensure accurate subsidy payments to clients;
- Administrative duties including mail and record management;
- Participate in team meetings and one on one discussions;
- Participate in the Quality Control framework, including a demonstrated ability to accept and act on feedback; and
- Other ad hoc tasks as directed.
- Subsidy Advisers are required to achieve agreed quality standards within a reasonable time frame. These standards are set out in a formal accreditation program and will perform part of the team member’s performance agreement.

**Eligibility**
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
- All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
