Fairfield West Public School is a dynamic school with a culture of high expectations that every child will achieve and be the best version of themselves. The school currently has an enrolment of 650 plus students, 92% EALD and over 30% refugee. The school has a stable executive team and a blend of experienced and early career teachers, all who are actively engaged in professional learning to improve professional practice.
The eight-class support unit has a collaborative and collegial culture where teachers and SLSOs operate as a positive team to support students. The wellbeing of students and their families is a priority. There is an emphasis on open communication between students, families, and relevant support services to maximise outcomes for students. Students attending the support unit have disabilities ranging from Mild Intellectual Disability; Moderate Intellectual Disability and Autism Spectrum Disorder, some having multi-disabilities.
