Roto-moulding Machine Operator

**Full-time Casual Afternoon shift worker needed for full training as rotational moulding machine operator (polyethylene plastic products).**

We will start the successful applicant as a full-time casual (38 hrs per week), with the long-term goal of making them permanent if they are a good fit. For that reason, the desire for long-term (not just a year or two), full-time, permanent work will be considered an edge in any applicant.

**Training will be provided **_**on day shift**_ until trainee is ready to work safely with mínimal supervision on afternoon shift. You will have an excellent trainer, but will ideally require high-level English comprehension to ensure you are trained safely and competently.

Work environment is one of the best you'll find, with a reasonable workload, little interference from management, and no toxic workers -- quite a unique workplace from me and many others' experience. A huge perk

Polyethylene and the rotational moulding production process to cook it into parts is completely safe (and food-grade), in terms of what will be handled and inhaled. Basic protective gear will be required of course: hi-vis work clothes and steel-capped work boots (we provide these occasionally for _permanent_ workers), and protective consumables where needed such as ear plugs, gloves, and masks (these are provided by us).

- **Pay rate (Afternoon shift)**:

- NOTE: Casuals are not entitled to public holidays or Christmas leave, so these have already been deducted below to show realistic wage figures. However the figures are best-case, i.e. no extra absences -- any unexpected sick days or leave days taken by the worker while casual will lessen the average weekly wage. Still it should give a good indicator._

- Job duties (detailed)

- Produce polyethylene parts via the rotational moulding process (Machine: Ferry 280 5-arm carousel)
- Prepare each mould for cooking/production
- Clean mould
- Replenish mould features as needed (inserts, graphics, etc)
- Fill mould with correct weight of plastic resin (polyethylene)
- Close mould and check readiness before cooking
- De-mould finished parts
- Remove feature restrictors as needed
- Open mould
- Demould part
- Follow post-removal cooling procedure if required
- General duties
- Periodic mould cleaning
- Report mould or machine defects to engineering department
- Manage part cooking/cooling times and follow correct mould procedures to avoid part distortion and minimize rejected parts
- Quality check finished parts as needed (i.e. leak testing, distortion, cosmetic criteria, etc)
- Use of power tools, mainly pneumatic (in particular the pneumatic rattle gun used for opening/closing moulds)
- Use of hand tools as required
- Remove/install moulds on machine arms as required
- Balance moulds on machine arms as required using positioning and dedicated counterweights
- Complete required production paperwork
