The Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) is an independent government agency which, in partnership with Basin governments, manages the Murray-Darling Basin’s water resources in the national interest. With the enactment of the Water Act 2007, the MDBA was established as an independent expertise-based statutory agency.

The MDBA aims to achieve a healthy working Basin for the benefit of all Australians. The Murray-Darling Basin contains a rich diversity of natural environments that are unique in Australia and the world. The Basin is also crucial to Australia’s economy and home to 2.3 million Australians, including people from over 40 First Nations. How we manage the Basin as a whole connected system, manage our water carefully, and protect it for future generations is set out in the Murray-Darling Basin Plan

**The Positions**
The MDBA is seeking collaborative people who are proactive and willing to be bold and bring in new ideas.

We are looking for like-minded individuals who are open and curious about new perspectives, new thinking and new ways of working.

We have multiple positions across two classifications - examples of the typical activities and duties for these capabilities are summarised below. Depending on the classification level for the role, the duties will involve supporting, contributing to, delivering, managing, or leading activities.
- Provide technical advice on water resource management, modelling and/or water accounting;
- Lead the quality assurance and analysis of data for reports intended for various audiences;
- Prepare content for external publications including water accounting and analysis reports of water use (see MDBA Water Take Report); and
- Lead or contribute to technical projects that form part of the review of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.
- Project planning and managing relevant budget lines according to Authority procedures and manage staff.
- Influence and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders including areas within the MDBA, partner governments, and the community to achieve consensus decision making.

The positions are located within:
**The Basin Plan Portfolio **undertakes a variety of functions, which range from implementing to reviewing the Basin Plan.

**The Basin Plan Implementation Program** is responsible for a variety of activities which range from the assessment of water resource plans developed by Basin State governments; Evaluation of the Basin Plan and SDL accounting.

**SDL Accounting **is responsible for management of the system of accounts that keeps track of how much water is taken each year from the Basin’s rivers, valleys and groundwater systems. The team supports a range of activities, including policy development, consumptive and environmental data analysis and the preparation of reports for various audiences. An important part of the role involves engaging with, and providing advice to, different internal and external stakeholders.

**Your key responsibilities in these roles are to**:

- Develop and implement policy related to the implementation of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan ensuring a coordinated approach across governments in the Murray-Darling Basin;
- Provide technical advice on water resource management, modelling and/or water accounting;
