Junior Designer Draftsperson

**About the Role**

This role is responsible for mechanical product drafting, design and documentation activities relating to both new and existing products. Activities include drafting of product technical manuals, technical design drawings, concept designs of parts and assemblies, manufacturing feasibility studies, sourcing quotations or the development of other graphic material as the business requires.

**Key Tasks**:

- Product development, documentation and technical support projects.
- Concept development including production of design review documentation.
- Production of section drawings, technical manuals and design drawings.
- Tolerance and quality checking of extrusions and componentry.
- Adherence to filing and archiving procedures including documentation filing systems and electronic drawing management and dissemination.
- Coordination and distribution of documents and samples.
- Preparation of progress reports.
- Assistance with manufacture of prototype models and samples.
- Technical support to customers.

**Essential Criteria**:

- Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Draft, Industrial or Product Design?
- Experience in a drafting office or technical documentation environment.
- Strong IT Skills including full working knowledge of AutoCAD drafting and Inventor 3D modelling software or similar.
- Excellent people and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and knowledge of dimensioning and tolerancing principles and conventions.
- Developed problem solving capability.
- Ability to work within departmental and business deadlines.
- Time management skills and the ability to counsel, delegate and prioritise to meet requirements.
- Strong procedural and documentation skills and an awareness of quality management principles.

**Desirable**:

- Previous window or aluminium industry experience
- Knowledge of aluminium extrusion drawing and documentation principles
- Experience in creation of technical or instructional documentation.
