Grid Transformation is responsible for devising the network strategy, envisioning how transmission and distribution networks should evolve to meet evolving energy demands of customers.

In executing this strategy, Grid Transformation oversees the planning and prioritisation of investments in the network, aiming to uphold service and performance standards at mínimal costs. Our primary focus lies in meeting customer expectations regarding:

- Capacity and usage optimisation
- Reliability and stability of the network
- Power quality maintenance
- Network accessibility

Grid Transformation activities are driven by customer and stakeholder needs; operational, financial, regulatory, and logístical considerations.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest for Senior Planning Engineers to join the Grid Transformation team within our Asset Management function in Perth, Western Australia.

- Senior Planning Engineers

**About the role**:
As the Senior Planning Engineer, you will be accountable for undertaking power system studies relating to steady state, dynamic, transient, power quality and small signal power system performance.

To provide a focal point for technical leadership and support, develop works planning reports and business cases and implement technical criteria and to identify short
- and long-term enhancements to the transmission or distribution networks to facilitate general load growth as well as new large customer and generator connections.

**The skills and experience you will have**:
We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:

- Degree in Engineering (Electrical or equivalent)
- Eligible for CPEng / NPER registration
- At least 9 + years relevant broad and extensive knowledge and expertise with demonstrated technical experience covering the following areas: Planning, design, operation and maintenance of electricity transmission networks. Large generation and load connection studies including assessment of dynamic behaviour, control system assessments and tuning of parameters and Economic and financial evaluation techniques
- Knowledge of specialist studies relating to rotor angle, small signal, frequency and voltage stability, electromagnetic transients and corona
- Understanding of energy markets and good appreciation of regulatory frameworks
- Knowledge of modelling requirements for performing transmission network power system studies (voltages of 132kV, 220kV & 330kV)
- Provide a coordinated strategic planning role in the development of Western Power Transmission Network
- Develop and implement power system analysis strategies and plans for longer term network developments in the transmission grid.
- Develop concept solutions (network and non-network) to resolve network constraints in a timely and economical manner and progress projects in a manner consistent with the Program Governance Framework.
- Lead Joint Planning Teams and provide a technical network planning function into the options analysis and scope development
- Perform risk assessments and make recommendations (including development of contingency plans) to deal with the transmission network related risks.
