**About this role**
You'll be joining the largest public health system in Australia and contribute to a world-class health system in NSW.
Lead a high-performing team to provide strategic advice, executive, project and business support, and implement strategies that support NSW Health to make decisions about policies and programs within the Health and Social Policy portfolio.
**Crown Clerk 11/12**, starting salary from $139,787 - $161,663 p.a. (plus Super and annual leave loading), with a 35-hour work week.

**What you'll be doing**
- Leading a team to:
1. prepare, manage and review high-level briefings, communications and correspondence
2. develop strategic advice on diverse policy, planning and operational matters
3. implement and evaluate business practices and systems to optimise efficiency and support the achievement of quality outcomes.
- Acting as the Executive point of contact and working collaboratively with key stakeholders to develop agreed positions on complex or critical issues relating to health and social policy.
- Undertaking strategic projects and proactively managing sensitive/contentious issues, often within tight timeframes.
**Working at The Ministry of Health**
The Health and Social Policy Branch is part of the Health System Strategy and Patient Experience Division in the NSW Ministry of Health and includes six units:
- Aged Care
- Disability, Youth and Paediatric Health
- Maternity Policy and Strategy
- Child and Family Health
- Community Care and Priority Populations
- Business, Monitoring and Evaluation
The Branch works in partnership with the health system, government agencies, academia and the non-government sector to develop equity-based policies and programs for the NSW health system, including where these connect with social care. The work of the Branch is strongly influenced by evidence-based and social determinants approaches and focusses on building connections and integrating care.
The position is located in St Leonards, in a modern, purpose-built building within an activity-based working environment. Close to public transport, cafés and local amenities.
As this is a full-time role, the minimum expectation for office attendance is 2 days per week (with attendance up to 5 days per week available).Workplace adjustments are available to support people with disability and/or medical conditions, including in relation to flexible working
**Essential requirements**
- Significant experience in developing, analysing and evaluating policy and other projects in a multi-disciplinary or multi-agency environment.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement, particularly in matters of great political sensitivity, strict confidentiality and/or potential controversy.
- Demonstrated relevant, professional experience in the area of health and/or social policy. Relevant tertiary qualifications and management experience would be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and respond to a range of issues of varied complexity and urgency.
