**About the role**

The People and Culture team directly achieves this by developing and embedding strategies and practices to build a high performing culture. We achieve this through empowering and supporting leaders to develop and manage their teams and people and ensuring a safe, healthy and inclusive workplace for all.

The People and Culture Business Partner role will see you partnering with our Community, Culture & Leisure Directorate. They are responsible for enhancing community life through aged and disability services at the Dougherty Centre, Youth Centre, Child Care and Family Day Care, Volunteering and management of a range of community facilities across the LGA. The directorate is also responsible for community development through delivery of Multicultural services, seven Libraries, Willoughby Leisure Centre, visual arts programs including management of Art Space on The Concourse and Incinerator Art Space and development of open space for sport and recreation. The Directorate manages The Concourse Precinct, conducts Council’s community engagement and organises major events such as Emerge and Vivid Sydney at Chatswood.

This varied role includes:

- Partnership with managers and employees to deliver efficient support across the full employee life cycle and across the people and culture calendar and business plan
- Advise on policies, procedures and employment conditions under the NSW Local Government Award and related legislation
- Act as point of contact in resolving workplace issues and queries and conduct workplace investigations where required
- Support and coach managers to help build a culture of performance and development in line with our corporate direction and aspirations
- Hands-on with end-to-end recruitment and resourcing support

Required qualifications, skills and experience include:

- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management, Business or equivalent
- Significant experience as a HR Business Partner in mixed blue and white collar workforces
- Strong experience across a range of HR disciplines including employee relations, organisational development and recruitment
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in interpreting industrial instruments
- Confidence and demonstrated experience in working with managers and employees to work through performance management, workplace conflict and investigations
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
