**About the opportunity**:
**Department Description**
The HR team in the Asia Pacific region consists of around 70 professionals comprising HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition and Management, Rewards, Mobility and HR Support teams. The function provides an HR Advisory and Service to our people in Japan and Asia ex-Japan (Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Korea and Taiwan). This role is based in the Sydney office where there are two HR professionals. This role will support the Senior HR Business Partner for Australia across all businesses and functions in Australia.
**Purpose of the Role**
Based in Sydney, this role provides a proactive and high quality HR services to the Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane offices. Working both as support to the Senior HR Business Partner for Australia, and also independently, the HR Manager conducts day to day HR activities across the full spectrum of the employee lifecycle.
**Key Responsibilities**
Employee relations
- Act as the first point of contact for employees and managers with queries/advice on policy and issues
- Develop strong relationships with line managers and support them to identify potential issues and implement appropriate and timely resolution of such matters, ensuring solutions are consistent with organisational strategy and in line with local legislation and regulatory requirements
- Train and coach managers to manage performance on an ongoing basis and to have honest and open performance conversations, with a focus on constructive and honest communications between employees and managers
- Support the Senior HR Business Partner in the resolution of more complex ER issues and involuntary terminations where appropriate
- Proactively review existing policies and procedures and make recommendations on continuing, modifying, or eliminating particular policies or procedures to reflect changes in legislation or to support business goals

Diversity and Inclusion (D&I)
- Partner with local Diversity and Inclusion leads to raise visibility across the D&I streams and build external profile
- Coordinate with the global D&I team on local initiatives where appropriate
Learning & Development
- Support and coach managers to have honest conversations with their people about their strengths, limitations, development needs and career aspirations
- Partner with managers to identify training and development needs for employees both in terms of management development, soft skills and operational/technical skills
- In collaboration with the regional and global Learning & Development team, recommend and facilitate suitable learning options to meet individual and team requirements, considering appropriate delivery channels
- Facilitate internal learning events and workshops, delivering content as appropriate
- Partner with managers and regional / global HR teams to roll out talent management processes and initiatives
Talent Acquisition
- In partnership with the regional TA team, act as local point of contact for recruitment needs
- With support of the TA specialist, help managers to identify skills and capabilities they need to deliver future and current work..
- Review drafting of Job Descriptions and organisation structures, proposal of compensation for the role.
- Provide oversight on hiring in Australia to ensrue an efficient and timely service is provided, and escalate to the Senior HR Business Partner, Australia if this falls below expectations.
- Work with Global Mobility to manage the work visa business sponsorship process
HR processes and administration
- Manage the on boarding and exit processes for all employees, including:
- Supporting the background vetting process, ensuring all queries are resolved promptly, escalating issues to the Senior HR Business Partner, Australia with recommendations for resolution
- Managing the probation process, identifying issues and supporting managers in the implementation of appropriate and timely actions
- Conducting exit interviews, analysing and identifying trends, and recommending remedial actions to the Senior HR Business Partner, Australia Collaborating and liaising with other functions as required
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies
- Work with Asia Pacific HR Support team to ensure a seamless service to employees and manager and to ensure that all employee documentation is accurate and in good order
