SPA Australia provides senior decision makers within the Australian Defence Force with timely and objective assessments affecting Defence capability employment and investment strategies. Our team of experienced military professionals and operations research analysts integrate military warfare expertise with advanced analytic methods - including force generation modelling, agent-based tactical simulations, and operational mission analyses—to deliver strategies that redress capacity and capability gaps and improve operational effectiveness of the current capability.
SPA Australia has an immediate need for a Military Operations Analyst to support a range of Defence programs and projects.
**Responsibilities**:
Qualifications:
**Required Qualifications**:
- 5-10 years of experience relevant to military operations and associated technologies. Expertise in one or more warfighting domains, mission, or functional areas.
- Bachelor’s degree in a science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) field. Alternatively, military experience and an advanced non-technical degree with demonstrated Defence capability acumen, e.g., successful completion of Capability Technology Management Program, or similar.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct research and analysis to reach defensible conclusions using incomplete information, to develop well-written analytic products to inform decision making, and to present analytic results orally; experience leading small teams in support of analytic efforts a plus-
**Desired Qualifications**:
- Master’s degree with an emphasis on qualitative and quantitative problem definition and solution, especially Operations Research or Decision Analytics
- Experience in military operational planning within an operation headquarters and Defence capability development and management (including requirements definition, capability definition document generation, modelling and simulation, or operations research).
- A Positive Vetting (PV) Australian security clearance
