**Where you’ll be working**:
Join the Violence, Abuse and Neglect (VAN) Network - a committed, multidisciplinary team of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal workers delivering trauma-informed and strength-based care to people affected by domestic and family violence, sexual assault, and child protection issues.

This role will be based on Gomeroi / Kamilaroi Country, with the position located in either Moree, Inverell, Armidale, or Tamworth. The VAN service spans many Aboriginal Nations across the Hunter New England footprint and is committed to culturally safe and responsive healthcare.
You’ll be working within a compassionate, supportive team that values Aboriginal leadership, cultural knowledge, and lived experience to influence meaningful, systemic change.

**About the role**:
As the Aboriginal Family Well-Being and Violence Prevention Coordinator, you will be a cultural and strategic leader working in partnership with non-Aboriginal VAN service leaders to improve the quality, accessibility, and cultural safety of services for Aboriginal people across HNE Health.

In this position, you will:

- Provide leadership and cultural brokerage to the district VAN team
- Support and supervise a small team of Aboriginal Family Well-Being and Violence Prevention workers
- Influence system-wide change and ensure services are aligned with the needs of Aboriginal people, families, and communities
- Foster collaborative partnerships with communities and services to build trust and improve outcomes

You are a self-motivated cultural leader who brings:

- Strong knowledge of the impacts of domestic and family violence, sexual assault, or child protection
- Hope and confidence in the power of culturally safe healthcare to support healing
- A deep connection to community and the ability to work with cultural integrity
- A commitment to mentoring others and guiding service development

**Requirements**:

- Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (under Section 14 (d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977)
- Experience working in domestic and family violence, child protection or sexual assault
- Ability to provide cultural leadership and advocacy
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across a multidisciplinary environment
- Willingness to travel across the district as required
