**ABOUT THE ROLE**:

- The Lactation consultant (LC) will rotate through the Postnatal Ward, Nursery, Out patients Clinic, and Milk Bank at Mercy Hospital for Women.
- Provide Quality Breastfeeding support to mothers, babies and their families who seek assistance with the establishment of lactation and ongoing management to achieve holistic family centred care
- Support Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) in both the antenatal and postnatal period regarding infant feeding.
- Work autonomous in your role as a consultant to support the Women’s and children’s Program.
- Develop and deliver education programs for all staff. Review and update all policy and procedures across Mercy Health.
- Fixed term part time role
- 0.6 EFT

**ABOUT YOU**:

- Nursing /Midwifery Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner regulation Agency (APHRA)
- International Board certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience as a Lactation Consultant.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a diverse, multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to work within the guidelines of the BFHI
- Strong advocate for education and the ability to impart your knowledge and teach all health professions and patients.
