About the Role As a Library Technician, you will play a vital role in the efficient operation of the Library Department. Your responsibilities will span across technical services, digital literacy support, cataloguing, and community engagement. Working across both the Secondary (Walton Library) and Junior School Libraries, you will provide digital and in-person assistance, maintain the library collections, and contribute to innovative library programs and services.

Key Responsibilities
- Information Desk Services: Provide research and technical support, supervise library users, and facilitate access to resources.
- Technical Services: Perform cataloguing, metadata management, process library acquisitions, and oversee subscriptions.
- Digital Literacy: Stay up to date with emerging technologies, assist with online content curation, and promote digital literacy initiatives.
- Community Engagement: Develop and coordinate library programs, organise displays, and foster library awareness among staff and students.
- Administrative Support: Prepare agendas, take minutes, maintain statistics, and assist in budget planning and submissions.
- Sustainability: Implement sustainable practices and optimise resource usage within the library.

About You Essential Criteria:

- Diploma or equivalent qualification in Library and Information Services (eligibility for ALIA membership preferred).
- Proficiency with library management systems, Office 365, and digital platforms.
- Understanding of cataloguing principles and metadata management.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative team mindset.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of Victorian Child Safe Standards and a current Working With Children Check.

Desirable Criteria:

- Experience in a school library environment.
- Passion for young adult and children's literature.
- Interest in makerspace activities and emerging technologies.
