Your part in our UnitingCare team

We are seeking a Domestic Violence After Hours Worker for our Domestic Violence Refuge team. You will join our team of dedicated After Hours Domestic Violence Workers to provide a holistic response to the needs of families residing in refuge to address issues relating to experiencing and or witnessing domestic and family violence.

You will have:
- a strong passion for working with women and children in a crisis environment- an ability to assess risk and respond and thorough knowledge of the impacts of domestic and family violence on women and children,- Due to the inherent requirements of this programs delivery we require female representation from our Supported Accommodation team, as such we are currently looking for a Female Support Worker_._ To be a female is a genuine requirement for the position under Section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act, 1997._

- Knowledge and understanding of the effects of domestic and family violence on women and children and the ability to respond effectively.- A demonstrated skill in providing both practical and emotional support to women and children that displays an understanding of family interaction and child development (including developmentally appropriate activities).- Demonstrated ability to participate as a member of a team with an ability to maintain appropriate records and communication that ensure continuity of client case management.- Demonstrated capacity to develop respectful relationships with women and children and the ability to assist them to mobilise their strengths and resources to achieve positive outcomes.
