**Tell me more about the role**

There are big things happening across the public transport network in Perth, WA including the implementation of the Metronet which is a series of both infrastructure and station upgrades across the city.

Working for the Public Transport Authority (PTA) who are the primary supplier of public transport services across Perth, this role sits within a division called the Office of Major Transport Infrastructure Delivery Division (OMTID) on the Metronet projects.

**We’re seeking a Communications Engineering Manager**

In this role you'll manage our Communications Engineering Section and be a key part of the leadership team. This role is all about strategy, planning, design, development and ongoing maintenance of communications infrastructure within the PTA.

This includes the management and strategy setting for all communications and as such works very closely with external service providers and industry bodies.

You’ll represent the PTA in negotiations, sit on emergency committees and take charge of compliance relating to industry standards and legislative requirements.

You’ll be building a team from scratch and providing direction and leadership across a range of different levels.

This role provides direction and advice in support of PTA’s planning, design, development and implementation of maintenance strategies.

You’ll manage allocated contracts and consultancies for communications systems, infrastructure and facilities, including approving tender documents, review of responses, evaluation of documents and making recommendations.

Other core aspects of the role are managing resource allocation, budget control and management, compliance and continuous improvement.

**About you**

It’s key that you have a relevant engineering degree as well as a strong knowledge in all aspects of modern communication systems, data networks, public information and control systems.

You’ll have well developed leadership skills and experience of overseeing a department.

We’re looking for a highly strategic commercial person with strong communication and influencing skills.

A proven background in major / complex projects within a rail / major transport environment is a must.
