The Aboriginal Legal Service (ALS) was established in a critical act of self-determination over 50 years ago as part of the Aboriginal rights protest movement. We provide high-quality, culturally safe legal and support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people throughout NSW and the ACT, and fight for social justice and equity for our communities.

**What Will You Do?**
In this role, you will be an integral and valued member of a highly skilled and high-performing Civil Law Practice. This role supports the ALS Civil Practice by assisting in legal and non-legal services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients. It focuses on employment and workplace discrimination matters, with additional support across areas like fines and tenancy.
- Manage client intake, monitor referral inboxes, and support client interviews.
- Provide paralegal and administrative support, including legal research, drafting documents, and liaising with stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate client records, case files, and data entry in management systems.
- Support Civil law phone lines and coordinate with solicitors for workload distribution.
- Contribute to process improvements and ensure compliance with ALS policies, values, and legislation.
- Uphold EEO, WHS standards, and perform additional duties as required.

**Who Are We Looking For?**
A highly skilled and motivated individual with a thorough understanding of the cultural, social, and historical needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. You will be able to demonstrate:

- Formal paralegal qualification or currently studying law, with strong legal knowledge and computer skills.
- Understanding of the legal, cultural, and social needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with professionalism on the phone and in stakeholder engagement.
- Proven organisational skills and ability to manage high workloads, solve problems, and work independently.
- Adaptable to new systems and technology, maintaining confidentiality and contributing effectively in team settings.
