**The Role with us**

As the **Network Design Operative - Field,** you will provide Optic Fibre design solutions for InfraCo, Telstra and our Customers by performing a range of Optic Fibre network design, in both the field and office environments, including but not limited to identifying optic fibre routes, consultation and negotiation with landowners, the preparation of basic AutoCAD designs, plans, drawings, assisting with / contributing to material ordering, generation of Land Access & Activity Notices (LAANs) and associated tasks, on site liaison with Specialists and other interested parties.

- Contribute to preparation of high quality detailed **optic fibre network** designs, drawings, material order and quotes that conform with standards & statutory requirements. Working across our full range of specialised databases/systems, you will keep detailed records in our design & construction systems.
- Use understanding of **optic fibre** standards, installation practices, testing & commissioning procedures.
- Maintain, or input to, Corporate Databases of record & Design & construction systems.
- As a team player, you impart your knowledge and vast experience across standards, installation practices, testing & commissioning procedures to directly support on-the-job learning of other team members, field staff and stakeholders as required.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills and the ability to confidently engage with property owners and stakeholders to ensure buildable least cost route is designed.

**To be successful in the role, you'll bring skills and experience in**:
**Essential**
- Enjoy working outdoors and travelling
- Available for **regular scheduled** inter and intra-state travel, for up to 3 weeks at a time, working nationally across Australia.
- Agility to traverse uneven ground and navigate through fences for periods of time
- Manual Driver’s Licence
- Have the ability to learn, utilise and interrogate the relevant IT systems, tools and processes used in the delivery of construction designs.
- Excellent listening and verbal skills; the ability to drive consensus among stakeholders, property owners and customers;
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical and written communication skills
- It would be expected to have suitable, (5+ years) relevant **telecommunications** **network design** experience within the Telecommunications and/or Construction industry

**Highly Desirable**
- Have a good understanding of telecommunications network design and construction processes, technical standard practices, and procedures.
- Have a comprehensive knowledge of current Optic Fibre networks and technologies, as well as possess the ability to understand and learn new disciplines.
- Extensive knowledge and experience of associated Optic Fibre network installation practices in construction
- AutoCAD 2D construction drafting experience
- Surveying and/or experience with sub-metre accuracy GPS and boundary identification
- Knowledge of Environmental and Heritage considerations and design solutions
