**THE ROLE**
Mentoring Unlimited is Whitelion WA's first mentoring program designed for at risk young people to receive care and support from their mentors.
As a volunteer you will: form a positive social relationship with a young person, participate in activities and interests of the young person to engage in their community and assist in helping to develop the young persons skills in areas of interest to achieve their life goals.
**ABOUT YOU**
You will bring the following personal competencies and attributes to the role:
- Friendly and engaging personality and ability to establish rapport with a young person in a non-judgmental way.
- Open to learning from young people and can recognize their unique perspective, experiences and contributions.
- A good awareness of your own capabilities and will confidently ask for support and guidance when needed, including when ethical challenges arise.
- Calm under pressure and are open to receiving feedback
- Understand the concepts around maintaining professional boundaries
- A high degree of integrity and you understand the importance of maintaining strict confidentiality and always respecting the privacy of young people.
In addition to these competencies you will be available to commit to regular contact with a young person over a period, as well as attending 1:1 support meetings with your program coordinator.
**Qualifications**
Relevant tertiary qualifications or experience in education, youth work, social work, social sciences or similar is required.
A current working with children check and driver's license (and willingness to undergo a Whitelion Police Check)
