Abilities Unlimited Australia (AUA) is a not-for-profit, professional organisation supporting children withdiverse abilities to develop the capability, capacity and confidence to participate in active recreation and community sport.

AUA is seeking dedicated Instructors to deliver our unique programs on weekends during school terms. Our programs cover fundamental movement, cycling & road safety, self-defense, skateboarding, team sport structure and swimming. Our programs are specially designed to help teach children with diverse abilities the vital, life changing skills enabling them to be active members of the community. This is done by teaching our unique programs in a structured, social, fun and supportive way.

Programs support children who:

- have disability or other additional needs
- have had challenges learning skills in a mainstream setting
- have sensory/behavioral needs and require extra support
- may benefit from intensive 1:1 support
- are looking to fast track skill development in a specific area

At AUA, we believe that every child has the right, and should be provided the support needed to ensure they are safe in their environment. Our lessons are suitable for children from the ages of 3 - 17.

As an AUA Instructor, you will provide instruction and support to children and their families within our programs. This position requires you to work as part of a team committed to the goals and mission of AUA that actively fosters community participation and involvement.

The responsibilities include:

- Teaching and instructing participants across our programs including Cyclabilities, Moveabilities,
- Shredabilities, Teamabilities, Defendabilities and Waterabilities in line with the AUA values ensuring the safety of participants at all times.
- Building strong rapport with participants, modifying to meet individual needs, strengths and skills.
- Provide a safe and secure learning and training environment for all participants, staff, volunteers and families.
- Display interest, enthusiasm, patience, respect and innovation to participants and families.
- Confidently engage with participants through investing in their development in safety and
- encouraging them to focus and maximise each opportunity to develop their skills, confidence and capacity.
- Ensure lesson plans are executed in accordance with AUA teaching methodology whilst maintaining high standards of engagement and interest in the ongoing development of participants.
- Understand objectives associated with each progression level of the program and ensure instructions are always focused on achieving these objectives.
- Assist the Program Manager by ensuring teaching equipment is ready before shift commencement and packed away following the conclusion.
- Communicate any updates pertaining to a participants progress to the Team Leader and ensure progress notes are completed for children.
- Attend training sessions as set out by the Program Manager as well as any other training required by the AUA Board.
- Develop a strong, professional relationship with families, participants and staff within programs.
- Embrace the concept of team and demonstrate a respect for the value of professionals working towards the attainment of a shared vision.
- Ensure all written and verbal communication is courteous, professional, accurate and reflective of AUA values.
- In partnership with your Team Leader, continuously align your skills and professional development requirements to ensure that you are meeting the obligations of your role.

**Salary**: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
