Fifo Mechanical Fitter

IPA is growing its talent pool We are currently looking for **FIFO Mechanical Fitter** to fill casual roles at one of our clients across Perth regions.

**About the role**:
Supplying a maintenance service for crushing and screening operations, collaboratively through teamwork in order to achieve Safety and production expectations in line with our client’s expectations. This position involves using your skills and knowledge of best practice maintenance Fitting to support the ongoing maintenance and operation of a state-of-the-art crushing and screening operation.

**You will be responsible for**:

- Attending all pre-start meetings, be actively engaged while listening to and following directions given by the Supervisor
- Completing daily equipment inspections and reports and escalate any defective equipment through the supervisor
- Participating in failure investigations and plant upgrades
- Reading and interpreting detailed engineering and design drawings
- Efficiently performing routine maintenance on Mobile and Fixed Plant equipment and tooling
- Completing regular servicing and maintenance of fixed and mobile plant
- Fitting and alignment of taper locks, pullies and drive belts on fixed plant equipment
- Fitting drives, gearboxes and aligning couplings
- Removal of redundant equipment and installation of new
- Installation of new mechanical equipment to mechanical drawings and GA’s
- Engaging with equipment servicing, fault finding and diagnostics
- Performing general grinding and hand tool activities
- Operating mobile machinery and filling operational roles where required
- Completion of ITP’s when required, throughout mechanical installations
- Reporting all faults and defects on equipment and tools that can’t be repaired immediately to the Supervisor
- Reporting all hazards, incidents, near misses and injuries events immediately to the Supervisor
- Ensuring to always comply with company and statutory rules, regulations policies and procedures
- Participating in risk-based assessment tools and compliance while onsite
- Engaging in business related activities or job tasks as required by the Supervisor
- Being actively involved with the requirements of spare parts
- Setting up and looking after tooling, escalating any special requirements

**Requirements for the role**:

- Exposure to extended work rosters (longer than 7 continuous days) and 12-hour shifts
- Exposure to remote work sites
- Strong knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety and Duty of Care responsibilities
- Exposure to risk management and hazard identification
- Worked as a Maintenance Fitter and preformed mechanical duties within a mining industry for at least 6 years (this period could consist of apprenticeship served time in a variety of mining industries)
- A strong understanding of all mechanical components and rotating equipment associated with mine site maintenance
- Ability to read and understand electrical P&ID plans and drawings
- Proven track record of electrical maintenance and fault finding in heavy industry (not housing or commercial/industrial building)
- Sound knowledge of construction/mining procedures (desirable)
- Basic welding and fabrication skills (desirable)

**Required licencing**:

- Mehcanical Fitting Trade Certification
- OHS Construction White Card
- Working at Heights
- Confined Space
- Gas Test atmospheres
- Fire extinguisher qualification (desirable)
- Any High-Risk Work Licences such as CN, LF, RB, RI, RA, DG, WP (desirable)
- Tele handler qualification and experience (desirable)

- Have high level of self-motivation and confidence as this role would often find this person being the only Mechanical Fitter onsite on a given shift

The successful applicants for this position must have a current Police Check, or able to obtain one. You will be required to pass Medical & DAS and complete all required inductions, both online and classroom-based trainings.
