Emergency relief services are quite often the initial contact a client has with a centre. Most clients are self-referred, but some come from other external agencies such as mental health or housing. Depending on each centres resources, clients are assisted with their immediate needs, whilst working through the Opening The Doors service delivery model to make positive changes in their lives.
This is also in conjunction with financial counselling and case work which is offered in varying capacities at each centre. All team members work co-operatively with both internal and external resources to maximise the outcomes for the client.
We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive Emergency Relief Worker to provide emergency relief to vulnerable and marginalised members of the community that assists them towards responsible and life-changing personal decision making under the Doorways Model.
You will successfully
- Assess client needs by following the established policies, procedures and guidelines and material assistance and referrals are provided as per guidelines
- Effective relationships are established with clients that encourage self-determination and participation
- Clients are assisted to access support services and establish community supports, and where needed are assisted through advocacy with service providers. Where applicable, clients are referred to appropriate specialist agencies.
- Client assessment reflects response to need within a service’s limitation
- Ongoing assessment is made of the client’s issues, needs and circumstances from initial intake to exit through the use of the Opening The Doors model of service delivery.
- Accurate, up to date client records and data is maintained for all clients
- Provide assistance to clients within their formal qualifications
You will have
- Tertiary qualification in social work or community services or related fields-minimum requirement is Cert III in Community Services
- Relevant experience in a social service environment
- Valid SA Employee Working with Children Check
- Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
