**JOB TITLE**:Lab Assistant

**JOB TYPE**:Full Time or Part Time

**SUPERVISOR/MANAGER**:QA/RA Manager

**MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES**:
This role is responsible for sample preparation, new product development, and plant line trials. The Lab Assistant will also participate in testing of ingredients and finished products to ensure correct composition and to identify any health or quality control issues that need to be corrected.

The main duties will include but not be limited to:

- Performing quality control tests on ingredients, completed products, and product samples.
- Assisting with testing and calibrating lab equipment in preparation for specific tasks.
- Preparing samples prior to shipping them to customers.
- Following all company policies and procedures to ensure product integrity and quality control.
- Analysing retrieved data and preparing reports for laboratory management.
- Recognising and reporting any food safety issues.
- Providing performance evaluations for production employees.
- Managing changes to product specifications, formulas, raw materials, suppliers, and external service providers.
- Participating in projects to continuously improve food and workplace safety.
- Undertaking other general laboratory duties assigned.

**SKILLS & EXPERIENCE**

**Qualifications**:

- Formal qualifications in Science (Biology or Chemistry) or Engineering essential.
- Qualifications in food safety desirable.

**Experience**:

- 2 years laboratory experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Experience in data collection and interpretation.
- Experience with storage and retrieval of samples in a laboratory setting.
- Experience with Gas Chromatography and Flash Point Testing highly regarded.
- Knowledge in Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) beneficial.
- Experience in a food manufacturing environment beneficial but not essential.

**Skills**:

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Capable of prioritising tasks to meet goals and ensure product quality.

**PERFORMANCE GOALS**:

- Ensure that all laboratory tasks are carried out promptly and safety.
- Employ food safety practices onsite to ensure compliance with legislation and established standards.

**Salary**: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- Day shift

COVID-19 considerations:
All visitors to site are RAT tested and required to wear a facemask. Staff are provided with RAT kits and facemask when required. All common surfaces sanitised regularly.

**Education**:

- Bachelor Degree (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Laboratory: 2 years (preferred)
