The purpose of the Principal Internal Auditor is to lead complex internal audits and reviews including financial; operational; ICT; financial statement reviews; performance and compliance. Our Principal Internal Auditors also prepare and provide professional, well-reasoned, contemporary advice to TMR's senior and operational management on matters regarding governance processes, risk management and controls.
**Your responsibilities will also include**: - Management of staff and resource budgets associated with the delivery of allocated audit tasks from the annual internal audit plan, as well as management requests from time to time. Preparing high quality professional internal audit reports on behalf of the Chief Auditor for submission to the Director-General, Audit and Risk Committee and the Executive Leadership Team, regarding the outcomes of internal audits and special projects conducted. Monitoring the implementation of internal audit recommendations and appraising the adequacy of the corrective action undertaken to improve systems and procedures. Provides input to assisting the Director (Audit Services) and Chief Auditor in the development of an annual internal audit plan for the department that provides for the effective coverage of the department's operations. Monitors, reviews, updates and improves protocols and work practices. Performs other duties as requested by the Chief Auditor or Internal Audit Management Team.
Requirements of the role
- Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role. An appropriate tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (business studies, management, information technology) is highly desirable. Accreditation as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) would also be highly regarded
- Demonstrated experience in the theory and practice of internal auditing
- Displays integrity, tact, discretion and acts ethically in all matters in accord with Qld Governments Code of Conduct. Knowledge of and ability to remain across contemporary audit practice Demonstrated experience in providing relevant accurate and technical adviceregarding audit protocols and improvements
