Commercial Manager

The **Planning and Operations team** act as a trusted advisor supporting all Tech Departments to run their operations in an efficient and commercial manner. We are looking for a Commercial Manager - Technology Services to join our planning and operations team for this recently created role based in Sydney.

Reporting directly to the Head of CIO Planning & Operations, the **Commercial Manager -** **Technology Services** will be the SPOC and SME for facilitating the purchase of software, hardware, communication services and intra-group technology services.

Software asset management is a greenfield opportunity at ING Australia. The incumbent will lead the setup of a software asset management practice aligned to the global ING solution to manage the end-to-end lifecycle of software.

The role requires an individual who is positive, accountable and resilient, having an enquiring mind, strong analytical skills, supported by an obsessive eye for detail. You’ll have a background in the SAM discipline, someone who understands software licensing, can interpret software entitlements and inventory data to craft recommendations for business owners to help them maximise their investment.

**What are you going to do? You will**
- Full ownership (SPOC and SME) of all software, hardware, communications services and intra-group technology services.
- Own the budget development for all technology services in the remit, underpinned by rigorous analysis of key cost drivers.
- Own and drive the forward looking worklist for all upcoming software renewals, working closely with the business owners ensure quotes have been validated, and then initiating the requisition process.
- Work closely with the CIO Planning & Operations colleagues (e.g. contracts manager, Procure-to-Pay Operations team) to ensure the requisition process is efficient and effective.
- Build, run and maintain a software asset management practice (e.g. creation of a local software inventory, regular reporting on license consumption against contractual entitlements, advise on software metrics used to measure consumption in contracts can be implemented easily).
- Generate actionable insights that will optimise the bank’s license consumption, achieving both hard savings and cost-avoidance.
- Work closely with the Global Software Asset Management teams to validate data collection requests are quality-assured before signoff.
- Drive a culture of risk and cost awareness to all software business owners.

**What are we looking for? Someone who has**
- Experience managing technology assets within a large corporate (Bank, insurance, telecoms)
- Strong experience and working knowledge in financial budgeting and forecasting
- Software licensing expertise: at least 3 years’ experience in licensing advisory/solutions. Good level understanding of Microsoft licensing, SaaS licensing etc.
- Good understanding of the SAM lifecycle process, experience with Software Asset Management Tools - including day-to-day activities and implementation / configuration (tools could include Flexera, ServiceNow, Snow License Management, SAMPro)
- Understanding of licensing rules for Software vendors including IBM, VMware, Microsoft.
- Strong experience in using Microsoft Excel (PivotTables etc).
- Proven experience sourcing complex services and commercial negotiations.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced and complex environment with mínimal monitoring.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills with a passion for solving complex ambiguous problems.
