Disability support work is an important and rapidly expanding industry with high level of satisfaction and security.

The support worker role will vary depending on the person you’re supporting as well as your experience, however, you’ll generally be supporting vulnerable people with many aspects of their day-to-day living, helping them to take care of themselves and live a fulfilled life. Your duties and responsibilities are varied and unique because the people you support all have unique needs. Whilst this can be a very diverse role, the key focus is on supporting a person to lead a fulfilling and more independent life. Your support will be person-centred, empowering, and non-judgemental.

As a support worker, you will be working in the Supported Independent Living (SIL) accommodation or people’s homes, and may help with tasks such as mobility, eating and drinking, personal cares, community access and capacity building.

On a day-to-day basis, support worker’s duties could include the following:

- Providing emotional support to individuals and their families
- Providing practical support for individuals and their families, such as helping with household tasks, personal care, and paperwork.

**Other key responsibilities include**:

- Adhering to the NDIS commissions code of conduct
- Consistent engagement with (client management software)
- Team meetings and supervision attendance
- Must have a positive patient and reliable attitude.

**Qualifications**:

- Cert 111 individual support, Mental Health, Aged care, Community Service, Disability work or similar
- Current Criminal Record Check
- Current working with children
- Current Aid Certificate
- **Experience in the following would be desired.**:

- Physical Disabilities
- Intellectual Disability
- Sensory/ABI Disability
- Mental Health
- Medication Support
- **Must Haves**:

- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
- National Police Check (Essential)
- Valid Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (Essential)
- Valid Australian work rights
- Queensland Full Open Driver's Licence, reliable car & insurance

**Schedule**: Shift work, Weekend available, Public holidays, Overtime, Flexible hours-Day shift, Morning and Afternoon shift, Night shift.
