The Queensland Herbarium and Biodiversity Science is a centre for research and information on Queensland plants, animals and plant communities, and is home to Queensland's Ecosystem Survey and Mapping team. This position in based at the Queensland Herbarium, Toowong, however field work, sometimes to remote locations, is a requirement of this position.
**The Botanist (PO3) position requires the following**:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the regional ecosystem framework and ecosystem survey and mapping methods in Queensland.
- Demonstrated experience in vegetation survey and mapping projects.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and research skills.
- Ability to handle complex issues and provide strategic, technical and operational advice and recommendations to Science Leader and senior management.
It is a mandatory requirement for the occupant of this position to hold an unrestricted manual driver's license or be prepared to obtain a manual license if they do not. Officers are required to drive government vehicles, including four-wheel drives as a part of their day-to-day and field work.
To be appointed to a position, you must be an Australian citizen, have permanent residency status or a visa permitting you to work in Australia. You are required to notify the department if your right to work in Australia ceases.
