We are looking for a Full Time **Plastics Fitter** to join our team at our Extrusion Factory based in Dandenong South.

**About THE ROLE**

The Plastics Fitter is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining plastic extrusion machinery and processes for yarn production. This role ensures the efficient conversion of raw plastic materials into high-quality extruded yarn, meeting both product specifications and safety standards.

**Main duties of this role are**:

- Set up machinery, troubleshoot and repair machinery to ensure machines are running efficiently and effectively at all times.
- Set up and operate plastic extrusion machines for yarn production, including temperature and speed control, material feeding, and tension adjustments.
- Monitor extrusion parameters and adjust process conditions to optimize product quality and efficiency.
- Conduct routine inspections of machinery and tools to identify wear and ensure equipment reliability.
- Calibrate extrusion equipment according to production specifications and quality assurance protocols.
- Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on machinery and related tools.
- Assist in the formulation and blending of polymer materials for extrusion based on product requirements.
- Record and analyse production data including material usage, output rates, and defect levels.
- Inspect extruded products for defects, ensuring quality.
- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to conduct in-process inspections and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Support on-the-job training and continuous development for staff to enhance skills and maintain high production quality
- Assist with the supervision of staff as required.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to company safety standards and Australian workplace safety regulations.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process efficiency and product consistency.
- Support Safety and Compliance initiatives.
- Support Quality Control processes.

**About YOU**
- 3-5 Years experience in Extrusion/Plastics factory or other relevant experience, preferably in a yarn or têxtile manufacturing environment.
- Excellent planning and coordination skills
- Proven operation experience in manufacturing facility an advantage.
- Strong understanding of polymer behaviour, plastic processing techniques, and machinery operation principles.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, process charts, and quality specifications.
- Knowledge of downstream equipment
- Familiarity with quality control processes and inspection tools
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations in a manufacturing setting.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $79,000.00 per year
