**Our Journey**

The Victorian Heart Hospital will be Australia’s first dedicated heart hospital and is nearing its final stages of construction. It will include a full range of ambulatory and inpatient cardiac care, including cardiac theatres, cardiac catheterisation laboratories and ambulatory services such as cardiac CT, echocardiography and specialist consultation. It will also feature a unique, patient centred model of care. The Victorian Heart Hospital will also play a key role in advancing research and teaching and will be home to the Victorian Heart Institute, a brand new, health and medical research organisation at Monash University.

This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding clinical professional to join our Quality and Safety team to support the Victorian Heart Hospital establish and embed strong clinical governance processes in a full time, permanent role. The role reports dually to the Quality and Safety Unit and the Program.

**Quality & Safety Unit at Monash Health**

Led by the Executive Director Quality and Safety and working closely with key stakeholders, the Quality and Safety Unit supports our Program leaders to embed strong clinical governance processes. This is critical to underpin the delivery of safe and effective care to every patient, every time.

**Cardiac and Intensive Care Services - Quality & Safety Unit at Monash Health**

In addition to the exciting new Victorian Heart Hospital, Monash Health includes three other intensive care units across three of our sites (Clayton, Dandenong and Casey). These units together with cardiac services provided at Clayton and Casey will be bolstered by the opening of the Victorian Heart Hospital.

**A day in the life**

In this important role, you will establish a robust clinical governance framework for the new VHH ensure a consistent, organisation-wide approach to clinical governance across the program. Other key responsibilities include:

- establishing and supporting clinical governance meetings
- adopting a consultative approach to writing and reviewing procedures and guidelines
- ensuring clinical outcomes are monitored and improved when needed
- working with the Clinical Outcomes team and programs to facilitate or lead reviews into clinical incidents and outcomes
- overseeing the implementation and evaluation of relevant standards including the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards
- working with the Risk team to facilitate review of the Risk Register
- promotion of, and compliance with best practice standards, professional standards and legislative requirements and policies and procedures

**You bring**

Working closely with service leaders, you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:

- a clinical background, with a demonstrated strong understanding of clinical governance
- experience in quality and risk management within a healthcare setting
- proven experience in implementing continuous clinical quality improvement
- experience in implementing the National Safety and Quality Healthcare Standards
- excellent communication and report writing skills
- experience in incident reviews (particularly using root cause analysis methodology) advantageous
- current AHPRA registration not required however proven clinical experience mandatory requirement
- current Driver’s Licence and access to a reliable vehicle is required to enable travel across Monash Health sites.
