The **Fleet Category Manager - Heavy On-Road** (Trucks, Trailers & Tankers) is responsible for the investment and life cycle management of the Downer Heavy vehicle fleet, establishing strong customer, supplier, and lease company relationships focused on delivering high quality results, **innovative, modern and fit for purpose** fleet solutions, maximising fleet availability, and effective management of capital investment processes, and repairs and maintenance costs.

**What you’ll be working on**

The primary focus and key responsibilities of this role are to create strong relationships with the fleet team, our customers, our suppliers, and our lease partners by providing management and analysis for the ongoing capital investment in heavy fleet vehicles. **This is a highly mobile position requiring extensive travel to ensure success.**

**What you’ll bring**
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in a similar role with a focus in the transport / trucking industries.
- Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel Mechanics or related discipline highly advantageous.
- Qualification in Automotive Engineering Heavy Equipment is advantageous.
- Proven knowledge and experience with the specifications around building trucks and trailers.
- Demonstrated track record in developing successful relationships with customers and major suppliers.
- Experience with financial reporting and managing capex.
- Strong negotiation skills.
